Casa Grande, AZ – Casa Grande Main Street is seeking new artwork from local artists in order to create “new” Doors to the Past. The Doors to the Past is a staple historic preservation project located in Historic Downtown Casa Grande on the north-east corner of 3rd Street and Florence Street. Completed in 2013, each of the nine (9) doors represents a piece of Casa Grande’s history as interpreted by a local artist. Due to ten (10) years of Arizona weather, these current Doors to the Past are deteriorating beyond repair. This program is designed to incorporate a wide variety of artists and new interpretations of Casa Grande’s history into the Historic Downtown Casa Grande district.

There are seven (7) doors that must be completed by members of the community. The remaining two (2) doors are being held for the Casa Grande Elementary School District, and the Casa Grande Union High School District. Casa Grande Main Street will begin accepting Doors to the Past applications on Monday, May 15th, 2023. All applications are due by July 17th, 2023, at 8:00pm. Applications can be submitted digitally via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Casa Grande Books and More

It's Spring time in Casa Grande!

The birds are singing, the bunnies are hopping, and the kids are home for spring break.

That being said, this Casa Grande mama decided the weather was PERFECT to take the kids for a walk. We had visited the parks several times already, did the mall, and hit up the local Wal Mart. I was running out of options and getting bored until I remembered about Casa Grande's Downtown District!

Our family has lived here since 2005 and we've visited downtown before but there wasn't much for a family to enjoy together. However, I drove through a couple months ago and I noticed many new businesses and decided to take the kiddos along to see what's new! There's shade everywhere so why not?
Sometimes that can be challenging as my boys are 10 years apart so what interests one does not interest the other.

We started the morning eating at Big House Cafe, took the preteen to the new Skate Shop, found some goodies at the Bow Wow Meow, got myself a tea from Deadlift Coffee and looked into the new (to me) gym. A lot of places I didn't know were there and we didn't get to keep walking because there was one that really surprised me and I will make it a point to put into our monthly routine!

See after walking around the toddler started getting fussy, as it usually goes. I turned to the kids and said, "Okay, last store!"

And we were surprised!

As you walk in, to your left there is a kid's corner with puzzles, movies, foam pads, and toys. There was already another munchkin playing and I was free to roam the store knowing the kids were both entertained! I was greeted by one of the owners Tina Desanto. She was so sweet and shared that she wanted a place where children felt welcome and would be turned onto books at an early age where parents could search for a new book in peace! She also has beautiful tea sets and coffee mugs that she collects and sells.

What a hidden gem!

Neon Sign Park Fashion Show

Neon Sign Park Fashion Show

The first ever Neon Sign Park Fashion Show took place on the Friday night of January 14th. Many People and families showed up on the cold evening to watch the models show off their designer's unique outfits; each look inspired by the time period of the sign in the park.

The night opened with the most adorable entry of all! Presley was very charming in her Goddard Shows inspired outfit. She was followed by four others, one ensemble including a neon cactus sign!

The next group featured five designers competing to appear in the Main Street Magazine. A total of eight models walked the runway in this group. Malia's model, Celeste, absolutely rocked her outfit inspired by the Valley National Back sign. Paired with a bright smile and just the right amount of confidence and sass, Celeste's walk was one of my personal favorites.

This fashion show went out with a bang, with Emmi Rakoci's model killing it in a bold and daring light-up garment. The winner was Yesena, whose outfit consisted of a bright and flowing red gown, and a unique patchwork ensemble.

Overall, the fashion show was very entertaining and fresh! It was nice to have something new to look forward to, and I'm eager to see what Downtown After Dark has to offer next.
